Hard times at the Oasis

Listening to Cadena Ser this morning, apparently there are strong currents within the PSC against a sociovergente pact, which could even lead to a split in the party were it to come about. And a repeat of the Tripartit would only be acceptable under certain conditions, with social policy taking precedence over política de barretina.

The PSC is blaming its electoral failure on its insistence on showcasing its nationalist credentials whilst in power and a subsequent loss of votes to Ciutadans and ICV, as well as high levels of abstention. There were planty of people telling them about this at the time, but they weren’t interested, partly due to pressure from nationalists both within the government and in opposition, and the catalanista-dominated media and cultural institutions who were watching every step the party made and waiting to jump in with the appropriate accusations.

The party, according to Cadena Ser, is prepared to regroup whilst in opposition if it can’t wangle the sort of pact it’s looking for.
